Every woman deserves a doula

highly recommend Amanda as a birth doula! After my first experience with a natural birth (without a doula) left me scared and scarred, I knew I needed someone with experience and knowledge and a calm presence who could get me through to the end. Amanda was just that. She provided support to myself and my husband, bringing out new techniques to get me through each hurdle. At the same time, she was so patient with the pace of the labor, letting me take my time, but gently encouraging me when necessary. I honestly don't know how I could have done this labor without her, and I'm so grateful to her for giving me the support I needed. If you are looking for a calm, knowledgeable presence to help support you and your partner through labor, Amanda is the perfect doula for you.

Amanda was wonderful! She was not only physically present but also mentally present with me the entire time. She was attentive to what I needed, especially during contractions and helped make the birth process a better one. She was proactive and so helpful. I would never hesitate to hire her again!!

My husband and I loved having Amanda at our daughters birth. We liked having her there to advocate for us and explain what was going on and what things meant. I loved having her there because she was able to calm me down when I couldn’t. I am definitely telling my friends about her!!

Amanda was incredible and the best support I could have asked for. She even brought essential oils and gave me a foot massage after 6 hours of walking to get labor started. Her calm presence totally helped me stay calm and steer away from my fear and anxiety. Even months after delivery she was so responsive to any questions. HIGHLY recommend Amanda.

Amanda was a great help, and very needed during my birth and Postpartum experience. She was very peaceful and calming for my husband and I during the entire labor process. She was exactly what we needed so I could labor in a quiet environment at home before we transferred to our hospital, which was our birthing plan. She was Also a great help in educating my husband with techniques that he would not have known to use otherwise. I was able to have the natural birth that I really wanted, and I have her to thank for that, also recovery was so much easier with her help. She was also great during our postpartum Visit. She was very helpful and understanding with my breast feeding struggles and helped me with what she knew. I also highly recommend the placenta encapsulation if you are wanting that service she did an amazing job. Over all my husband and I were very pleased and very happy that we were matched with Amanda. We highly recommend her if you are looking for a very calming and relaxing birth experience. Thank you again Amanda Purser.

I am a CNM and I highly recommend Amanda. She was extremely patient and empathetic with my laboring client. I would describe her as genuinely caring. She spent a long 24 hours without tire and she really made the difference. She had helpful suggestions and not only helped with comfort of the mama but also was helpful for the clinical team.

Amanda was so supportive and never once left my side. My family and partner were all amazed by her commitment to seeing this through with me! I first met her once I was already in a lot of pain at the birth center and they called her up to come help me last minute! Which she did. This was my first baby, and I felt so supported by her. I started at a natural birthing center and was there for about 20 hours, overnight, during which she continued to rub my back as I cried in pain every few minutes in contraction. Rest of my family was sleeping at some point or another and she hung in there with me. When we transferred to the hospital she calmly explained how the different options worked that we were weighing. Long labor ... and I am so thankful she was there for me

Amanda served as a volunteer doula for my girlfriend Anjali's labor at Best Start Birth Center. The labor lasted over 40 hours and eventually we had to go to the hospital for a C-Section but Amanda was Anjali's rock throughout the process. I think the only time she ever left her side was to go to the ladies room! We are humbled and amazed by her generosity, especially considering we did not really have enough money to pay for a doula at the time, and we can't recommend her highly enough. Prospetive clients, please free to call or email me if you'd like to a reference!Sincerely,

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful Amanda was as my Doula. My husband and I could not have birthed our son in the way that we did if she was not by our side. I prepared as much as I could to have the natural labor and birth that I desired but the intensity of it all was all consuming and a bit scary for me at times. Amanda supported me, empowered me, comforted me, and her calm reassuring presence was everything my husband and I needed, especially when things got tough. Amanda set the tone right when she arrived with dim lights, candles, essential oils, and music. These were all the things that I wanted, but in the moment, could not have handled myself. Amanda carries herself in a very professional way and communicates and works with the hospital staff beautifully. She educated me and gave me gentle reminders of my labor and birth wishes and gave me the strength I needed to achieve them. Amanda was perfect and my husband and I are forever grateful that she was there for us the day we birthed our first child. I could not have done it without her by my side.

Amanda was the calming presence I needed for my labor and delivery. She knew when to step out of the room, and how to push me gently. I never felt like she was "just doing her job" she wanted to be there. I can't say enough good things. Her style was perfect for me. I was so vulnerable and letting her into my "birthing" and most tender moments of my world was done flawlessly and with such grace on her end. The midwifes were equally as wonderful, but having Amanda there let them do their job and monitoring me physically while Amanda's job was to be with Michael and I emotionally. For me she was perfect because I don't like people in my face and I'm very private. Having a doula was important because I felt detached from my mind and body at certain times, Amanda was able to help me make sense of what was going on. If you are looking for a calm presence to let all your fears funnel through she is perfect. Labor was a marathon and the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. But the midwifes and Amanda were like the gears on my bike. I did what was natural for me; though I couldn't tell you how I knew it was natural...my body just took over. I moved around from bed to tub, back and forth with the help of Amanda and the midwifes. It was important for me to keep moving. I knew I needed to move, but sometimes I was so tired, I would forget. Amanda would say after a contraction "are you ready to move" as a gentle reminder. Then a few contractions would pass, she would remind me again and spontaneously I would move and everyone would follow and support me. Intuition was a huge thing and when I gave into that instead of the pain, that was when things got moving and my anxiety let up. There is so many things to the birth, and so many feelings that I never knew existed until after doing this. Having Amanda there made the experience that much more positive. I recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

Amanda was absolutely amazing! I was keeping in touch with Amanda during the early stages of labor for my wife and she was very responsive. As soon as we told her that we wanted her to come, she left right away. Her timing getting to the hospital was perfect as the contractions were really starting to intensify for my wife.
Amanda instantly stepped in and began massaging my wife to help her deal with the contractions. My wife said once Amanda started massaging, the pain from the contractions was cut in HALF!
During the entire time Amanda was there, she was beyond helpful in so many different ways and really helped keep us on track and follow our birth plan as best as we could given the circumstances. Without her, I feel like the entire labor would have gone so differently and we would have been very upset at the end. She was beyond helpful and I have no idea how we could have gone through it without her.
My wife and I HIGHLY recommend Amanda! She may not have a ton of time in the industry so far, but with her skill set and how she was from our experience, you would have thought she has been doing this all her life!
Thanks Amanda!

i had a grueling and intense 25 hour labor. Thanks to Amanda I didn't use an epidural or need pitocin I had a lot of back pain. Amanda's massages got me through the pain. During the active labor pain, Amanda's soothing voice and calm demeanor helped me focus on breathing. Amanda provided my husband clear and explicit instructions during the entire process and made us both more comfortable. The labor and delivery day is stressful. Amanda was crucial is helping us handle all the stress and pain. She was worth every penny. As a first time mom, I didn't know what to expect, I'm so glad Amanda was in the hospital room with us. She also provided us with different techniques and positions to ease the pain. If you're looking for a doula, I HIGHLY recommend Amanda Purser. Trust me when I say you'll be glad you've got her in the room with you.
